Vlog #1

About a year ago, I decided to try doing a Vlog documenting my progress as a photographer (mostly dealing with my newborn work)! I made two videos and then got too busy. I am assuming this is a pattern that will continue, but when I learn/make something new or have something I want to share...you'll see another video pop up, haha.

I thought I would catch you up and share my first two videos from last year before sharing a new one this weekend.

Vlog #2

Text from original post:

A little over a week ago, I had a last minute newborn shoot with a 1 month old baby girl. Over the past month or so, I've struggled on several of my newborn sessions with babies not settling down and going into a deep sleep. While I know that this is inevitable with some newborns, it was happening often enough that I knew there was something I needed to change. I've been doing a lot of research online to learn what tips other newborn photographers give and attended a fellow photographer's session to watch what tactics she used. I plan to discuss the tactics I learned over the next couple of videos. In this one, I talk a little bit about using a heating pad.

Even if you use a space heater in your sessions, I found that a heating pad gives just that little extra comfort that some babies need to stay asleep. Think of the heating pad as a surrogate for a parent's chest! You do want to make sure there are several layers between the baby and the pad, and that the setting is around medium (avoid overheating the baby!). When repositioning the baby, it's a good idea to just check her temperature and adjust the pad's setting as needed.

There were other factors that went into helping this session be successful, but let's just say, a heating pad with be an essential part of my future newborn set-ups.

Well, there you have it. Watch this weekend for a new video showing a DIY project I did for my studio.
